Biblia Takatifu ya Kiswahili (Swahili Bible) is a collection of sacred texts in Christianity. These various texts have been traditionally referred to as "books," as indicated by the term "biblia," which is the plural form of the Greek word "biblos," meaning "book."

It is distinct from the Tanakh, which comprises the sacred scriptures of Judaism and is also referred to by the same name, especially in Hebrew Bible editions. Its books are included in the first part of the Christian Bible under the name "Old Testament."

The Christian Bible is divided into two main sections: the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament contains writings that were written before Jesus Christ, while the books of the New Testament were written after him.

The Old Testament primarily consists of the same books as the Hebrew Bible, although different Christian denominations may vary slightly in this regard. The issue arose because there were differences within Judaism at the time of the emergence of Christianity regarding which books were considered sacred scriptures. This matter was resolved around 80 CE when Jewish scholars from Jabneh (Jamnia) took a firm stance against followers of Jesus.

By that time, Christians were already accustomed to the Greek translation of the sacred scriptures known as the Septuagint, which had been translated in the 2nd century BCE and included several books that were not preserved in their original Hebrew or Aramaic languages or were directly written in Greek.

Thus, the Christian Bible contained seven additional books (two of Maccabees, Sirach, Wisdom, Tobit, Judith, and Baruch), as well as portions of Esther and Daniel, that were not accepted later by Jews.

These seven books were rejected by Martin Luther in the 16th century and subsequently by many Protestants. However, they continue to be used by the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church under the name Deuterocanonical books.

The New Testament consists of 27 books. The first four are the four Gospels, which provide accounts of the life, actions, and words of Jesus. The other books include the Acts of the Apostles, the Epistles of the Apostles, especially those of the Apostle Paul, and the book of Revelation by John.
